Our foundation consists of a group of volunteers who are very involved with the subject, they are committed to the children in Nepal and do this without compensation. In Nepal we have two board members who also volunteer and one employee who is employed part-time. They provide guidance, monitoring of the children and feedback on progress to the board in the Netherlands.

Every year at least one of the board members goes to Nepal at own expense. Last May, two board members visited Nepal to visit the schools and process the new applications. All schools and homes of the new children were visited.

Desiree Lesscher - secretary and founder

"For me, Nepal is a country that continues to fascinate. Besides the fascination for the beautiful Himalayas, the Nepalese have stolen my heart. They are very friendly people who want to share the least they have with you. From my profession as a midwife, am I also came into contact with obstetrics in Nepal. 30% of the women in the mountain regions still die here at birth, which means that a large part of the children, although they have a father, are placed in an orphanage I think it is very important that parent and child can stay together The parent-child bond remains good and that benefits the care for each other Education is necessary for the future of the children, the children are the future of Nepal. I want to make a case for that, together with you! "

Jules Jansen – treasurer
“I do my daily work as a partner of Deelstra and Jansen, a practice for administration and advice.

From my profession I think it is great to be able to contribute to the development of the future of Nepal. Our children Rebecca (1997), Nathan (1999) and Samuel (2003) go to school in the

Netherlands every day, so education is a matter of course. SDEF makes it possible to offer

Nepalese children education. Where education is not yet the most normal thing in the world

for everyone. With this we lay a foundation for building a better future of and by the Nepalese.

Of course I wholeheartedly recommend our public benefit organization and we look forward

to your support. Your donation is eligible for deduction in box 1. "

"Desiree's stories about her visits to Nepal made me decide years ago to work for the children in Nepal from the Netherlands. In 2015 I went to Nepal for the first time. It was an impressive journey in which I worked together. I searched with Desiree, Laxmi and Sangeeta the areas and schools where the children from the SDEF program live and go to school Six months after the devastating earthquake of April 2015, I was quite shocked by the poverty and conditions in which many people live. it was also fantastic to see how we can make a difference for a number of children and their families, which is why I would like to continue to use my knowledge and skills to make a small but structural contribution through the SDEF to a better future for the children in Nepal. "

Inger Schermer - board member

"Since February 1, 2016 I have been retired and I left my job as rector of the Don Bosco

College Volendam. Yet my heart continued to be focused on education and the development

of the youth. When I came into contact with I was immediately sold on the SDEF. The Don

Bosco College has always been active in sponsoring a specific school in Congo and the support

of better education in other third world locations through Edukans was also our keen interest.

SDEF does exactly what I the above-mentioned projects: helping

underprivileged children with a better future perspective, by giving them the opportunity to

receive training that enables them to achieve this. The fact that SDEF is small-scale and there is

a direct relationship with local Nepalese administrators has only made me even more enthusiastic

to dedicate myself to this foundation. "

Heleen de Graaf - board member

"Because of my great passions of traveling and photography I have seen a lot of the world, where I was also confronted with poverty and poor education. While it is so important that children receive a good education, because that is often the start of a better life In addition, it is so important that children continue to live with their families What makes SDEF so unique is that children, whose parents cannot afford education, are still given the opportunity to go to school and continue to live at home. Give them a future! I myself have been to Nepal several times and good education is of great importance. That is why I hope you will support us. "

Peter Paul Vet - boardmember

My number one passion is definitely travelling, that is why I made it part of my day to day live with working for KLM. With all my years spending abroad I discovered that educations is unfortunately not a given for every child in the world and especially not in Nepal. This is why I try to contribute via SDEF to create easier accessibility of education for the Children in Nepal. Although I know it is still only a small step compared to the size of the problem. This small scale of SDEF attracted me especially because it creates a very efficient organization with direct links and roots within Nepal.
